
Professor Beatrice de Gelder is a leading neuroscientist based at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, renowned for her work on emotion, body perception, and multisensory integration. Her research uses XR, behavioural experiments, and brain imaging to study how humans recognize and respond to bodily expressions and emotional cues, even outside of conscious awareness. She is a global authority on the links between body, brain, and emotion, and has increasingly applied immersive technologies to better understand embodied social cognition.
